A Sky watching event was conducted in Jawaharlal Nehru School (SW)
Habibganj by astronomy club of the school on 11.02.2019 evening from 6.30 pm to
8.30 pm, Under the guidance of Aryabhat foundation.The Secretary,BSM Mr.
Ashutosh Chatterjee(DGM MEX) was present to grace the occasion . He admired the
effort of Principal and her team for taking the initiative. Principal Madam Mrs
Shraddha Muzumdar addressed the crowd and thanked parents and students for
sparing time and making the event successful and memorable.
This year we had the privilege of maximum participation in astronomy
exam, for which we were rewarded with a 114mm reflecting type telescope. On the
occasion the new telescope was inaugurated by the incharge of Astronomy club
Mrs. Saly Jacob.
Five telescopes with high
magnifying power were set to view the sky. The gathering enjoyed the magnified
view of craters of Moon, Mars, Nebulae, Constellations, Bright stars etc.
International space station and Hubble space telescope were the star
attractions of the heavens. People could spot them with naked eyes.
Mr. Aloke Mandavgane and his team were familiarizing
the sky to the gathering throughout. The event was well acclaimed by the
management, Principal and her team, Parents and Children alike and wished many
more such events to take in the future.
